It all began between 2006 and 2007, when my sister, who loved candles, discovered that candles could be made with beeswax. She bought a book about beekeeping, but I was the one who read it during the winter days. The more I read, the more I wanted to work with bees.

So I did it: the following spring I bought five hives and began spending time with local beekeepers, eager to gain more and more experience. The next year I found myself with twenty-five hives. I joined the Campania Beekeepers Association, where I shared and expanded what I knew.

By 2011 I had about two hundred hives and decided to register as a professional beekeeper. The peak came between 2013 and 2022, when I managed between five and six hundred hives, producing around two hundred quintals of honey a year. So many experiences, so many landscapes crossed, so many varieties of honey, so many days spent with the bees.

Today I have scaled the business down a little: I look after three hundred hives, with the help of my partner.

From 2006 to today, one thing has not changed. As spring approaches, something switches on inside me, like a machine. I have to go to the bees, check that everything is all right, see what they are doing and who needs help. And so it begins again, before I even notice.
